ALZHEIMER'S SUPPORT
| DESCRIPTION |
ALZHEIMER'S SERVICES- The New Mexico Chapter of the
Alzheimer's Association offers a statewide, toll-free
helpline that gives assistance and support to callers. It
sponsors family caregiver support groups and also a support
group for persons in the early stages of dementia. The Association has a Respite
Program, which provides cash vouchers for family caregivers
to employ a paid caregiver for a brief period, and a national identification and registration program to help
authorities identify and safely return home memory-impaired individuals- the Safe Return Program.
Informational materials, a lending library of videos and
books, caregiver training and educational conferences are
also provided by the Association. A portion of chapter
contributions supports research. |
