Agency Services

JUVENILE JUSTICE DIVISION
DESCRIPTION This is a State Agency which follows the rules and regulations of the New Mexico Children's Code.  It provides service to adjudicated and non-adjudicated youth.  These services range from court-ordered probation and parole to voluntary informal probation.
ELIGIBILITY In order to be placed on formal probation, a report from a law enforcement agency must be received.
FEES No fee
HOURS M-F: 8 AM - 5 PM
APPLICATION A referral from a law enforcement agency is received in the office, and an appointment will be made for the child and their guardian to meet with a Juvenile Probation and Parole Officer. The JPPO will then make the determination based on the alleged offense and prior history to make a referral to the Children's Court Attorney for filing of formal charges. If a referral is not sent to the Children's Court Attorney, the child might be
placed on informal probation. Parents may come in to discuss their child's behavior and will be given the names and numbers of local agencies which may be helpful.
