AGE RANGE    Children, youth and families.
DESCRIPTION The Protective Services Division provides services to children and vulnerable adults who are alleged to be victims of abuse, neglect, and exploitation. Services include intake investigation, treatment, foster and adoptive care, attendant care, home care and family preservation.
NOTE: Foster and adoptive families are badly needed in Sierra County. Foster parents can be single or married and may choose the age, gender and ethnicity of the children.
CYFD provides a monthly subsidy, free daycare and medical coverage for each child and training and support. For information about becoming a foster or adoptive parent, call Ronny Diaz at (800) 255-8859 X 134 or go to www.cyfd.org/adopt.htm

FEES No fee
APPLICATION A referral is made to the state centralized intake unit where it is screened out or sent to the county office for investigation. Potential foster/adoptive parents can call the local office.
