WATER PRODUCTION & WASTEWATER TREATMENT
| DESCRIPTION |
The Wastewater Division operates and maintains the wells, pumping stations and water tanks that provide water for T or C as well as the pumping stations and wastewater treatment plant that assist in collection and provide treatment for wastewater that the citizens generate. Treated wastewater is dischargeable to the Rio Grande at much higher standards than federal or state regulations require. Sludge from the plant is currently land filled but Division staff is working on the possibility of composting it instead to conserve landfill capacity and convert the sludge into a valuable asset. Critical facilities have on-site generators to assure continued operation even in the event of a power failure.
