VOCATIONAL REHABILITATION
| DESCRIPTION |
Provides a variety of services designed
to assist persons who are blind to become employed.
These services can include counseling, purchase of assistive technology, help with college
tuition, and help starting a business.
To be eligible for these services, the individual must be at least 14 years old, and must be able to benefit
from the services with respect to a desired employment outcome. |
| ELIGIBILITY |
Must be
"legally blind" or have a progressive eye condition which
will lead to legal blindness." Legal blindness is defined as best corrected vision
in the better eye of 20/200 or worse, or a field of vision which is less than
20 degrees. Examples of
progressive eye conditions which
may lead to legal blindness include macular degeneration, glaucoma, retinitis
pigmentosa, or diabetic retinopathy. |
