Administrative Overview
H.E.L.P.- New Mexico, Inc., Inc. has a staff of approximately 240.  The number varies according to the time of year.  In addition to the headquarters office in Albuquerque, HELP, Inc. has five regional offices throughout New Mexico.  These offices are located in Espanola, Las Vegas, Roswell, Gallup, and Las Cruces.  Satellite offices are also open in Mora, Springer, Deming, Clovis, Lordsburg, Reserve, and Silver City. The Child Development Division operates Head Start sites in La Luz, Tularosa, Alamogordo, Deming, Columbus, Lordsburg, Animas, and Truth or Consequences.

Child Care Food Programs

CHILD AND ADULT FOOD PROGRAM

DESCRIPTION Provides reimbursement for nutritious meals served to children enrolled in childcare centers and daycare homes. It introduces children to many different types of food and helps teach them good eating habits.
ELIGIBILITY All home day care providers are eligible to claim children not living in the day care home. Home day care providers may also claim their own children if the family meets the income guidelines.
FEES A $15 registration fee is renewed yearly.
APPLICATION A telephone call or walk in request for service is taken at any time.  All applicants  receive a list of requirements to become a registered day care home. The requirements are a 2-A 10BC fire extinguisher, a smoke detector, first aid kit, a telephone, TB skin test, current immunization record for all children or adults to be placed in the program, and criminal records check if non-related children are to be claimed.  When applicants have obtained all the requirements from a list, a home inspection is conducted.  Once the home is inspected, the home becomes registered.

HOME EDUCATION LIVELIHOOD PROGRAM

DESCRIPTION Employment and training program for youth provides comprehensive assessment, pre-employment skill career exploration through work experience opportunities, classroom training in areas identified as deficient, vocational training, and supportive services.   Partnerships are established with local community employers, schools, and other community organizations.  Parents are required to be involved in the development of the employment plan as well as in the every day experience of the youth.
ELIGIBILITY Males and females, 14-21. Proof of legal residency in the country required.  Must meet income guidelines. Proof of birth date required. Must be an at-risk youth.
FEES No fee
HOURS M-F: 8 AM - 5 PM
APPLICATION Outreach and recruitment are used to initially reach the youth in the community.  Parent and youth must both be available for the program application.

HEAD START

AGE RANGE 6 weeks to 4 years
DESCRIPTION A variety of services including education, comprehensive health services, development assessment, nutrition and mental health services, dental assessment and care, physical exam & follow up care, vision screening and hearing screening.  Parents can be involved as classroom volunteers, field trip volunteers or in decision making process through policy council.
ELIGIBILITY Must meet income guidelines.
