Mission Statement
On April 15, 1987, NCNMEDD again entered into a contract with the New
Mexico Aging & Long-Term Services Dept., formerly the State Agency on
Aging, for the purpose of developing a comprehensive and coordinated
system of services to the elderly population of PSA II and PSA IV.

Helps seniors and others access health insurance and other benefits - Medicare and Supplements, Medicaid, Veterans' benefits, food stamps, Social Security and SSI, utility
assistance, telephone assistance. Provides outreach and educational presentations. Helps beneficiaries and representatives understand Medicare payments made on their behalf. Identifies, investigates and reports fraud, abuse and misuse of Medicare and Medicaid funds. |

LONG TERM CARE OMBUDSMAN PROGRAM

No age range. Anyone who is in a long term care facility qualifies.

| DESCRIPTION |
Advocates for the rights of residents in nursing facilities and assisted living facilities. Investigates and resolves complaints. Maintains a network of trained volunteers and staff throughout the state. Provides information and referral regarding long term care programs and services. Advocates improvements in state and federal laws and regulations. Identifies and seeks to remedy gaps in facility, government or community services. |
