10 Hot Springs Gymkhana
8am, Sierra County Sheriff's Posse Rodeo Arena, T or C
Sierra County youth age 2 - 18 can enter to compete in the following events, depending on their age categories: barrels, pole bending, flag race, goat tagging/tying, team roping, breakaway roping, and steer riding. 10 Dedication of Historic District Sign

A new sign honoring historically relevant buildings in the Historic Commercial Bath House District will be dedicated in front of the Senior Recreation Center (itself a historical building). 10 Rio Grande Sailing Club's Jack and Jill / His and Hers Race
Elephant Butte Lake The Rio Grande Sailing Club holds regattas each month at Elephant Butte Lake. Most races are preceded by skipper/crew meetings and followed by dinners and award ceremonies. 10 May Art Hop
6-9pm, downtown T or C  Many of downtown's galleries, studios, stores and restaurants are open for the evening on the second Saturday of every month, rain or shine. Special events planned for the May Hop include opening receptions for Al Harp at M, and for Dean Crane and Conne Gibson at Celestial Creations; new work by Zingaro at Cafe BellaLuca; Rob Wheeler at RioBravoFineArt; and a celebration of Historic Preservation Month - student art displays, and food and libation from the CCC era (at Main Street, The Bradley Gallery and Blackstone Hotsprings), prepared by the Culinary Arts Class of Hot Springs High School. 17 Hillsboro Heritage Day
Home & Garden Tours10am-2pm at various locations  Tour five homes and three gardens, each contributing to the streetscape that makes Hillsboro one of Southern New Mexico's most unique and historic small towns. Scheduled to appear: Electric Campfire Orchestra (acoustic eclectic swing oldies); The Deming Fusiliers (Appalachian string band); The Sabinal Sisters (western tunes & folksy ballads); Holy Water & Whiskey Band (harmonious vocals, from folk to gospel to "whiskey" songs); Mackie Redd (local singer-songwriter with Nashville roots); Peter McLaughlin and Chris Brashear with The Ronstadt Cousins (southwest ballads & bluegrass); and The Adobe Brothers (high-energy danceable bluegrass). New Mexico State Parks is bringing its "Reach for the Stars" programs to parks throughout the state once again. Bring a flashlight covered with a red lens, binoculars, lawn chair, and your imagination! Please do not bring your pets.
