Jack Baker, Jane Greene, Elsie Clark, Bud and Susan Stevenson, Jim White, Char Myers
Linda Phillips asked for the progress of various committees.
1. Marketing:
Elsie Clark and Ruth Lee reported net proceeds for T-shirt sales
and plans for Roof Us representation at the Ben Archer Health Fair
and the Sierra County Fair
2. Structure:
Nick Pannella requested the pool enclosure include the kiddie pool which
can be used for a snack bar that in turn can generate revenue. Jack Baker
presented plans for a 158 foot long, 61 foot wide, and 14 foot high metal
building manufactured by Mueller Inc near El Paso, TX. The building
carries a 30 year warranty and comes at the cost of $59,2000, not including
Lex-Ann windows that roll up nor doors. Lex-Ann doors are preferred because they are impenetrable and therefore safer. Turbine fans will be used for ventilation.
Jim White shared his experience with using such a structure at the Boys Ranch near Bernardo and volunteered to revisit the area to follow up on what worked and what didn't. Jack Baker offered to find the name and phone number of the contractor from Las Cruces who has installed other structures in the T or C area and send it to Linda Phillips; he then encouraged Roof Us to contact this contractor to find costs for needed stanchions, foundations, footers, anchors, and labor costs for electrical and mechanical services. Nick Pannella will contact the city concerning the solar production to serve the pool.
3. Grant Writing:
Diane Williams is writing the introduction for a grant that will be a part of the project description that will go to Dianne Hamilton.
The Roof Us goal is to present an overall plan and attached costs to the City Commission in November
The next meeting is scheduled for Oct 20th in the Computer Room at 5:30
