Attendees: Linda Phillips , Norma Webster , Rose Burrows, Cory Borrows, Donna Sanchez, Kristen Sanchez, Jan e Greene.
Linda gave out time reporting forms and asked that everyone fill the out so that we can keep track of volunteer time. She then asked for the status of the committee job descriptions:
The Marketing Committee is working to create public awareness of the project;
The Grant Writing Committee will research and write grants
The Dome Committee has not met but will begin to work on defining their purpose
The Coordinating Committee has at least one representative from each of the other committees and works to make sure that the project is moving forward.
Jane gave the financial report. We currently have $350 in our account at State National Bank. $250 is a donation from the Women of the Moose. She also reported on her conversation with Jackie Hall about funds that may be donated by a group that worked to cover the pool several years ago. She is working to locate the necessary account signors so that she can access these funds.
There was a brief discussion on how funds could be used. It was agreed that funds raised by the Marketing Committee and these funds from a previous group can and probably will be used to increase awareness, purchase necessary preliminary services such as engineering reports, etc. Money for actual construction of the pool cover must go to the City of Truth or Consequences. If we raise funds for marketing and services beyond what we need, all excess funding will be given to the City when they begin construction of the pool cover.
Rose reported that the Diving for Nickels event was very successful and that the Marketing Committee is working on other fundraising plans.
Norma reported that they are still working on a questionnaire that will be sent to other pools to gather information about their experiences. This document should be finqalized by the next full meeting on July 21 st.
Donna asked when we should begin researching grants and other funding opportunities and asked that we look at sample grants so that we would be familiar with what we needed to do. She also agreed to research discretionary funds and report back at the next meeting.
Jane reported on the information that she and Mick got from going through the files at the City offices. The information was limited and some documents we have been told about seem to be missing. Jan e said that she till talk to Jimmy Rainey about that and, depending on his recommendation, would go to the Commissioners or the Acting City Manager, Ms. Penner.
Finally the group discussed what our next steps should be. It was agreed that it is essential for the Dome Committee to meet and look at possible structures and that we develop a time line for selecting a building and going to the City with out plan.
The next Coordinating Committee Meeting will be held on August 9 th at 5:30 at the Elephant Butte Inn .
