Administrative Overview
Operates administrative office where client needs are assessed and The Salvation Army thrift store. There are eight staff members and numerous volunteers. All staff report to the commanding officer or to the store manager. The Sierra County Service Chair located in Truth or Consequences provides emergency assistance in Sierra County.

EMERGENCY ASSISTANCE (LAS CRUCES)

DESCRIPTION We provide case management services, food, clothes, some emergency housing, counseling, and network community resources to all clients without discrimination. We have dress a child program, school supplies to the neediest, holiday food and winter clothing. We also provide crisis counseling and help people with grief issues related to accidents and terminal illness and assistance with utilities and rent or mortgage. These services are provided if The Salvation Army has funding to support them.

HOURS Tuesday 1 - 4:30 pm, Wed. Thursday & Friday 9 - 11:30 am & 1 - 4:30 pm
APPLICATION You must have the following items in order to be assisted: Picture ID for person applying For everyone in the household: Social Security cards or print out from Social Security office w/ name & number, proof of income for everyone in the household, last 2 receipts of paid rent or mortgage, receipts for all bills and other expenses paid for the for the last 30 days. Food Stamps (Current months print out) and Medicaid card
ELIGIBILITY > No deposits will be made. For Utility Assistance - Termination notice for electric/Disconnect notice for gas. Letter stating minimum amount of Propane delivered without tax. Families must be earning enough money to support the household under usual circumstances. Rental or Mortgage Assistance - Eviction notice or past due notice for Mortgage. Prescription Assistance - copy of prescription with dollar amount. To receive these services, at least one member of the family must be a United States citizen. Must be prepared to show or discuss crisis

COMMODITY FOOD PROGRAM

DESCRIPTION A food box is given to families who meet income guidelines and apply with the Family Services Coordinator.

HOURS Tuesday 1 - 4:30 pm, Wed. Thursday & Friday 9 - 11:30 am; 1 - 4:30 pm
APPLICATION Meet with Family Services Coordinator. First come, first serve.
ELIGIBILITY Must meet income guidelines. Bring picture ID, social security cards or print out form from social security office with name and number (for everyone living in the home). Clients also need to bring proof of income for everyone in the household for the last 30 days. Also, bring the electric bill showing your name and address. If receiving food stamps, bring a letter showing that you receive them.

LAS CRUCES THRIFT

ELIGIBILITY Anyone can use the Thrift Store. Clients, who are given vouchers for merchandise by The Salvation Army, must meet the gross income guidelines and have an interview with the Family Services Coordinator.
DESCRIPTION The Thrift Store accepts a variety of donations and is always in need of volunteers to sort, clean, hang clothing, price items and keep furniture and electrical appliances in a presentable manner.
APPLICATION The Family Service Coordinator is available Tuesday from 1 pm to 4:30 pm and on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday from 9 am to 11:30 am and from 1 pm to 4:30 pm.

SIERRA COUNTY DISCRETIONARY FUND

DESCRIPTION Provides travel assistance, food assistance, help paying utility bills
and prescription expense assistance. Needs assessed on a case-by-case basis for peoplein need in Sierra County who are not served by other agencies, when
funds are available.
