SENIOR EMPLOYMENT

AGE RANGE Age 55 and older
DESCRIPTION Provides subsidized employment to low income seniors 55 years and older. The goal is for participants to gain job skills and regular employment.
FEES No fee
HOURS M-F:  8 AM - 12 NOON.  Call first
APPLICATION Candidates need to make an appointment.  At the appointment, they need the following documentation:   proof of citizenship, age, picture identification, proof of residency, and income for 12 months.
LANGUAGES English.  Spanish available

HEALTH INSURANCE ASSISTANCE (HIBAC)

AGE RANGE Age 65 and older
DESCRIPTION Helps seniors and others access health insurance and other benefits - Medicare and Supplements, Medicaid, Veterans' benefits, food stamps, Social Security and SSI, utility assistance, telephone assistance. Provides outreach and educational presentations. Helps beneficiaries and representatives understand Medicare payments made on their behalf. Identifies, investigates and reports fraud, abuse and misuse of Medicare and Medicaid funds.

APPLICATION Call for assistance.
LANGUAGES English. Spanish available.
AGE RANGE No age range. Anyone who is in a long term care facility qualifies.>
DESCRIPTION Advocates for the rights of residents in nursing facilities and assisted living facilities. Investigates and resolves complaints.>  Maintains a network of trained volunteers and staff throughout the state. Provides information and referral regarding long term care programs and services. Advocates improvements in state and federal laws and regulations. Identifies and seeks to remedy gaps in facility, government or community services.
ELIGIBILITY Applies to residents in long term care facilities. Anyone can register a complaint or seek complaint investigation and resolution.

APPLICATION Call office to register a complaint or request assistance.
LANGUAGES  English.  Spanish available.

SENIOR MENTOR PROGRAM

AGE RANGE Age 55 and older
DESCRIPTION Matches volunteers age 55 and older with younger adults as they enter the workforce.
ELIGIBILITY TANF recipients and others; all ages.
  FEE No fee
HOURS   8 AM - 5 PM
APPLICATION Call for interview appointment.
LANGUAGES English.  Spanish available.
