Attendees: Rose Burrows, Donna Sanchez, Janet Smith, Elsie Clare, Ruth Lee, Adrian O’Neill
Today we welcomed a new member , Adrian O’Neill.
Adrian is a Doctor of Oriental Medicine and has
graciously offered her services to the committee. We
are grateful for her help. We were also honored to
have Donna Sanchez join us today. Fresh ideas always
help us so much.
Sept. 17th, from 9 to noon, Ben Archer is having a
health fair at the Youth Center. The committee
decided to have a booth and pass out information about
the task force, much as we did at the hospital health
fair. We anticipate a bigger crowd, and thus hope to
get the word out to more people. Elsie will purchase
candy to be given to the children attending. She and
Ruth will set up at 8am and man the booth until 10.
Adrian and Rose will be there until noon and break
down.
Our T-shirt project is going well. We just picked up
another order from Desert Graphics and now have all
sizes from small to 2X. Others can be ordered from
Elsie Clark at: 744-5765. Gretchen Campbell, owner of
Coldwell Banker, purchased a large number for her
agents. Thanks Gretchen! Adrian is contacting the
City Offices and Forest Service for their orders. We
plan to have a booth at the Sierra County Fair and
offer a free T-shirt with a $20.00 donation.
Destination Sierra County is Sat., Oct 1st, and Adrian
is checking to see if we can have a booth there also.
Rose will be delivering the T-shirts to the winners of
the coloring contest and getting their pictures for
the paper this week.
Adrian has offered to write weekly articles for the
newspapers and public service announcements for the
radio station. These will not only be informational,
but will be asking for help and expertise from the
community. Right now, we need the specific
measurements of the pool, and she will contact the
City Building Inspector regarding this.
Our next meeting is noon, Wed. Sept. 7th. 511 Van
Patten. All are welcome. Next general meeting in the
3rd Thurs. of the month, Sept. 15th, 5:30 at the
computer lab.
